Entry: 056 ... Cho

Korean news are somehow faster (and less PC) than American news regarding the Vtech tragedy (which only began to be covered by Korean news after it was revealed that the shooter was Korean and not Chinese). J, avid Korean news stalker, told me about the Ismail Ax tat on Cho's arm about a full 24 hours before it was remotely mentioned on any kind of English rumor website. Here's a hot tip for you, CNN: Police are apparently hushing up a rumor/truth about Cho's parents, but all the neighbors are claiming that his parents committed suicide. The father had fatally cut his wrists, but the mother took pills, and was in a coma in the hospital.

This of course, sparks a conflict of opinions between J, K, and me. J would follow through with the suicide rather than face the shame, whereas K immediately dismisses the idea as an act of the mentally unstable. Culture clash? I'm still sketchy on my own opinion. Update later if I make up my mind...

I was distracted in my Mark Twain class today. Kept looking at the door, half-expecting the next copycat shooter peeking inside, gun in hand. The in-class discussion on Mark Twain's gun symbolism in his works didn't help much.

Anyone else disturbed?

So Korea doesn't have the best reputation lately, with N. Korean nukes, Woo-Suk Hwang, and now the infamous Cho Seung Hui. I wonder when CNN will pick up that his last name is Cho, and that it should be Seung Hui Cho...

My heart goes out to you Vtech.

So Ive been slacking off lots the past few days (semesters, even?). Lots of shit piled up. Lots of shit happened. In an effort not to sound like a whiny brat, highlight below only if you¡¯re seriously interested on what exactly happened.

J, my roommate, managed to burn the third pan since the two semesters Ive been living with her today. A pan I bought. A pan that she left on the stove that was on for several hours with all the Teflon melted off of it. A pan that suffered the same fate as its two predecessors.

I fell asleep through a lot of my classes, and I'm only grateful that attendance is barely required (aka you have friends to sign in for you) for most of my classes, except Chaucer, which I slept through the day my teacher told me to not miss anymore or my grade would be in serious trouble.

I haven¡¯t updated my fanfics in 2 years. Literally. So I think of this fancy new idea that I should update it, 2 weeks ago, and continue to update once a week. I owe 3 chapters now.

I didn't buy any senior event tickets, nor have I decided which ones to attend. I haven't confirmed which ones K, my boyfriend, is going to either.

My serious lack of a work ethic has actually stabbed a bit into my relationship with K because I lied and said I went to class when I didn't, and I also lied to my best friend A about it.

And what am I doing, instead of working on my 10 page literary criticism due (with references!) on Chaucer, on a topic I havent even picked yet, 9 hours before it's due?

I'm updating a blog I haven't touched in a year.

Good to be back.

Entry: 053 ... Insomnia

I skipped work today (Monday, since 2 am is technically Tuesday), and the Friday before that too. Blame it on a really bad case of insomnia I've been suddenly struck with. The same case of insomnia that's made me decide, whilst staring at the green dot of my smoke detector on my ceiling, to run to CVS, a good 7 blocks down Washington Street. To pick up toilet paper, nonetheless. And toothbrushes. And for the hell of it, I got myself a CVS ExtraCare Card too.

Maybe I'm an adrenaline junkie. I definitely felt my heart pounding and whistling Beethoven on the way back. I tried to jaywalk behind some uniformed cops in an unmarked car, and then completely aborted b/c they were doing an illegal U-turn. I swear to you, I thought they were going to fine me. But they just kinda blipped their siren at me and asked if I wanted a ride home. I was already on my block, so I said a bit too loudly "No, thank you." They promptly left me to taste the dust of their tires. Nice folk.

I feel like doing laundry for the sake of doing something productive since I wasted the rest of today.
